George Bernard Shaw said:
"We do not stop playing because we grow old...we grow old because we stop playing!"
and we believe that Art is a great way to play... a mindful, creative process that connects the artist to their surroundings, encouraging problem-solving and relaxation. There is no right or wrong - every image is another practise step along your learning journey.

Join our adventures into the world of art...
Throughout the year we run short courses and one-off workshops, exploring the basic skills and techniques required to get you started with: Drawing using pencils, charcoal and chalks; Painting with Oils, Acrylics and Watercolours.
We look at different subject matter, styles and genre so that you are not repeating but developing, learning, improving and progressing with each course/workshop. The basics of line, space, perspective and colour underpin all 4 mediums so don’t restrict yourself to “just Drawing” for example.
We even provide all the materials and equipment – you just bring an apron, pencil and sketchbook to jot down notes and experiments.
Suitable for complete beginners age 16yrs+. Improvers welcome to "get you back into it" within a relaxed, friendly, group settting.

Course/Workshop Booking Terms & Conditions and FAQs: Full payment is required in advance by each student - group bookings are welcome to make one group payment. Payments cannot be returned or refunded unless the activity is cancelled by Hands-on Art. Unattended workshops or classes within a purchased course: cannot be refunded, or transferred to another course or student. Each purchase is unique and can only be used once by the named recipient for the activity and date specified on the confirmation. The purchase email can be printed off or displayed on your mobile device to be redeemed at the beginning of your booked activity. Hands-on Art will not accept liability for lost purchase emails. Purchases cannot be converted into cash or transferred to another activity offered by Hands-on Art deemed of "similar value" by the purchaser or recipient. Please check your booking email to see which materials & equipment you need for your course (these are provided for workshops). Students are expected to clear up their area, joint areas and any tools, equipment & materials used during each class within the course, during the 15 minutes before the class ends. This is all part and parcel of working in a practical environment and is not the sole responsibility of the tutor when everyone has gone. Students are respectfully requested to arrive and depart on time: classes will not delay the start due to time constraints and out of courtesy to those who arrived in good time. It is not possible to stay on beyond the end of the class to "catch up" or finish off your work. Thank you for your co-operation. Courses or Workshops booked in error: please contact Hands-on Art as soon as possible and we will do our best to help. However, an admin fee applies to change dates/course/workshop. For example, Scenario A: if you book the Autumn Term afternoon course instead of the Autumn Term evening course and wish to swap your booking to the evening course: this will not be possible if, in the meantime, all places on the evening course are booked up. In this case you will receive a refund of the course fee minus a £50 admin fee. If a place is available on the Autumn Term evening course, there will be an admin fee due of £50 to make the swap, before your place is confirmed. Scenario B: if you book the Autumn Term afternoon course but meant to book the Spring Term afternoon course and wish to swap your booking to the Spring Term afternoon course, this will not be possible if, in the meantime, all places on the Spring Term afternoon course are booked up. In this case you will receive a refund of the course fee minus a £50 admin fee. If a place is available on the Spring Term afternoon course, there will be an admin fee due of £50 to make the swap, before your place is confirmed. Health & Safety: We are relying on each student to take personal and collective responsibility by absenting themselves from the Studio if: they have Covid-19 or flu symptoms, have tested positive for Covid, or have been in close contact with someone who has since tested positive for Covid-19.
Cancellation Policy: For the activity to go ahead we require 6 students to be booked on by 11pm on the Friday preceding the start date. If the activity goes ahead: - Activity purchase payments cannot be returned or refunded because Hands-on Art has committed to providing your activity. If the activity is cancelled by Hands-on Art Adventures: - Students will be notified at the earliest opportunity. - Students who have booked will be offered i) an alternative date, ii) the choice of deferring to the next similar advertised activity, or iii) a full refund. If the activity is cancelled by external circumstances/governing or official bodies e.g. closure of the Studio by the Government due to the outbreak of a pandemic: students will be offered an alternative date for the activity. Unattended classes within a course activity: cannot be refunded, or transferred to another course or student. If Hands-on Art Adventures cancel a class within a course activity: - Students will be offered an alternative replacement date for the class. No partial refunds will be given. The Terms & Conditions, Cancellation Policy and Health & Safety requirements are at the discretion of Hands-on Art Adventures and are subject to change at any point.
