  • Prices range from £8 to £50 per item, depending on the size and shape of the piece.

  • There is no "Studio Fee".

How long does the activity take?

Each booking includes:

  • use of the table, Studio equipment & facilities for up to 1.5hrs maximum. At this point the table must be vacated for the next booking - it is only fair that we are allowed sufficient time to prepare the table for the next group, in the same way that we will be prepared for yours.

What age is it suitable for?

All ages welcome:

  • We can put babies handprints and footprints onto the majority of our ceramic items; babies, toddlers & children should be accompanied by a responsible adult (click here for our weekly toddler activity Story Ceramics);

  • Teenagers and adults of all ages are very welcome!... on your own for a bit of creative downtime, in friendship groups or to celebrate with a party!

When can I come to the Studio?

  • You choose a convenient time during our Opening Hours (please check our Calendar to avoid disappointment) and

  • Book a seat/table over the phone 01753 206 265 or by email office@hands-onart.co.uk  We don't have online booking - yet - we're working on it!

  • Bookings are only confirmed on receipt of a £10 deposit per table and a contact phone number.

  • The deposit reserves your table at your preferred time on your preferred date.

  • The deposit is deducted from the total cost of the item(s) painted by your group during your visit.

  • The deposit is refundable up to 48hrs before your booking otherwise it is considered a cancellation fee.

  • If you need to re-schedule your booking the Studio must be notified up to 48hrs before the original booking otherwise this is considered a cancellation and a new deposit will be required for a new booking. Re-scheduled date & time will be subject to availability.

  • The deposit can only be transferred to a future date once.

Group size?

  • You are very welcome to come on your own for some creative chill-out time, or bring friends, family or colleagues!

  • Please make sure you include every member of your group in your booking, to enure everyone has a seat.

  • The smallest table we have seats 2 people, the largest group we can seat at one table altogether is 12. Groups of 13 or more will be split over two or three tables. We can seat 30 people at the Studio in total.

  • There is a maximum of 2 non-painters per group/family eg. 2 children painting accompanied by 2 parents/adults supervising. In our experience the children concentrate for longer and put more detail on their work if their parents/accompanying adults are painting too.

  • All children under the age of 13yrs must be accompanied by a responsible adult/carer/parent at all times.

When can I collect my items?

  • Painted pottery items require a transparent glaze application and firing in our specialist kiln. This makes the surface of your item super-shiny, foodsafe and waterproof.

  • The firing process takes several days and therefore we only switch the kiln on when it is full.

  • The kiln is on-site. Your items will not leave the Hands-on Art Studio.

  • Your items will be ready for collection two weeks after your visit.

  • The collection date will be recorded on your SumUp text message payment receipt before you leave the Studio. Please make a note of the collection date in your diary/on your calendar/in your phone, so you don't forget to collect - we don't send reminders as you have the date on your receipt.

  • Please note: we can only keep your items for a maximum of 3 months after your visit, after which time we will assume you no longer want your items and will dispose of them for you.

  • Postage of items if you are visiting the area: can be arranged at an additional cost. The cost is determined once your items have been fired and parcelled up. We will then contact you with a quote (based on size and weight of the parcel), take the payment and post your parcel(s) on to you.

Refreshments?

  • Please do not bring your own hot drinks from another establishment - hot chocolate, a wide range of teas & coffees and squash are available for purchase during your visit to the Hands-on Art Studio.

  • Food cannot be brought onto the premises as Hands-on Art is not a catering establishment and cannot dispose of food waste.
