Party Planning

Saturday party times are 11am-12.30pm, 11.30am-1pm, 12-1.30pm and 2.30-4pm
after-school (3.30-5pm), weekday (10am-5pm)
and Take-Away parties also available.

Advance booking essential.    

   Non-refundable deposit required (please see terms & conditions below).  

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult**, ratio children 5:1 adult maximum

Minimum group size 5, Max seated activity group size 20... for additional guests not taking part in the party activity pleae see full T&Cs below.

Free Gift for the birthday child/Hen if there are 10 or more guests.

Please note: the party organiser responsible for the behaviour of your party group at all times**.

Please be aware that other customers are allowed in the Studio to paint and collect while your party is in progress.

Terms & Conditions
  • Party bookings are confirmed on receipt of a £50 deposit (bookings made less than 14 days before the party date require payment in full).
  • Deposits are non-refundable to cover cancellation and disbursement costs.
  • Balance payments confirming final numbers are due no later than 14 days before the party.  Please see the Cancellation note below.
  • Party Tea: pre-ordered picnic boxes must be paid for in full on booking, no later than 14 days before the party & subject to availability, this is non-refundable; Punto pizza should be paid for at the end of the party.  Self-catering is not possible.   Please note: birthday cake brought onto the premises must be taken home by the guests in their party bags.  Please do not bring the following hazardous items to the Studio: knife, matches/cigarette lighter, sparkler candles.
  • Booking Alterations: are subject to availability and require 14 days written notice.  Requests for alteration of date within 14 days is considered a cancellation and changes will constitute a new booking.  Deposits from parties cancelled within 14 days cannot be used towards a new booking.  The alteration date must be within 3 months of the original party booking date.
  • Cancellation of the party, or reduced guest numbers, within 14 days of the scheduled party, requires payment in full at the quoted per person cost.
  • Payments can be made in person at the studio or by card over the phone, during our opening hours Tues-Sat 10am-5pm tel. 01753 206 265; or by Bank Transfer to Hands-on Art Adventures  (details on request).
  • A maximum of two adult helpers must attend to supervise the party guests in addition to our staff member.  This is a Health & Safety issue.  These helpers are responsible for the behaviour of your guests at all times.  Hands-on Art reserve the right to ask guests whose behaviour is deemed detrimental to the ethos of the Studio to leave. 
  • Running is not permitted at any time - regrettably all breakages must  be paid for in full.
  • For Health and Safety reasons any additional guests not taking part in the party activity must be seated at a cost of £6pp/per seat - unless they would like to choose an item from the shelf to decorate themselves.
  • All party activity items are subject to availability.
  • Free Gift for birthday person is an 8" round plate at a value of £14, decorated by a staff member.
  • "Birthday Child goes Free" if there are 15 or more guests means: If all the items are the same price you will receive one free, if they are different prices you will receive the cheapest free.
  • Please be aware that other customers are allowed in the Studio to paint and/or collect while your party is in progress.
  • All parties are allocated a specific time period to accommodate other bookings.  Please ensure your guests arrive and leave promptly - it is only fair that we are allowed sufficient time to prepare for the next party, in the same way that we will be prepared for yours.  Any party over-running will be charged an additional £15 per 15 minute period.
  • Parties extending, or planned to take place beyond our regular opening hours of 10am-5pm Tues-Sat are subject to a £30 per hour surcharge.
  • Pottery Painting party: your fired pottery will be ready for collection one week after your party date - it must be collected within three months of your party, regrettably we do not have space to store it beyond this point.
  • We quality check every item when it comes out of the kiln, before we pack it ready for you to collect.  You are very welcome to unpack your pottery in the Studio before taking it home.  Unfortunately we cannot be held responsible for any damage that occurs to your pottery items once they have been taken from the Studio.

Cost includes:

  • staff members to meet & greet your guests;
  • tuition & supervision of the painting activity by a dedicated team member, as deemed appropriate by Hands-on Art (not responsible for behaviour of your guests);
  • ceramic item per guest;
  • glazes;
  • aprons, tools & equipment appropriate to the painting activity;
  • firing & wrapping of each item ready for collection a week later;
  • cleaning & re-setting of activity tables for your party tea;
  • clearing up after your party.
