NEW PROGRAMME from Sep 2018:

 We are SO excited to announce our NEW programme of art classes, provided by our NEW artist-in-residence Hazel Crawford.
 Hazel is an artist constantly on the lookout for new avenues to widen her own experiences and challenge her approach to her own work. 

Mondays.... 1-3pm 

Tuesdays... 7-9pm 

The new format:  a 10 week journey into the world of art, or book individual sections of the course!

Be it sketches or paintings, in any media, Hazel will be on hand to provide each individual artist with expert advice on skills, techniques and how to move your own artwork forward.  Meet other artists and share your experience and knowledge with each other.

4 weeks: drawing techniques & mediums in preparation for your 5-week course: £72
1 week:  Taster Session of something completely different - in readiness for the 5-week part of the next course! £20
5 weeks: exploring a specific medium, style or subject matter; this could be: watercolour, acrylics, oils, oil pastel & turpentine; chalk pastels, pencil, palette knife application of acrylics or oils...; Impressionism, Abstract or Pop Art, Cubism...; landscape, still-life, flowers, human body, buildings... £90
all 10 weeks £150

Please bring all the appropriate materials & equipment required for your course/taster lesson, plus a sketchbook - A4 or A3 size, minimum 140gsm - suitable for a variety of media including acrylic, oil & watercolour paint - enabling you to experiment each week and to track development of skills, techniques & processes.  Brand recommendations below.

4 weeks: Drawing (pencils & charcoal) £72
1 week: Watercolour Taster lesson (this is the introduction for the 5-week block of the January course) £20
5 weeks: Landscapes (acrylics on A4 canvas or board x2, chalk pastels, watercolour) £90

Places must be booked at least one month before the start date please to ensure the course goes ahead.

Recommendations for our courses:
Acrylic paints: Daler Rowney System 3, soft brushes, palette knife set; acrylic sketchbook/canvas or board according to your preference.
Watercolours: Winsor & Newton Cotman; soft brushes; watercolour paper.
Oil paints: Georgian, soft and bristle brushes, palette knife set plus an odourless cleaning agent (for the sake of your fellow students); we highly recommend you have a separate set of brushes for oils; canvas or board according to your preference.
Chalk pastels: Inscribe
Charcoal: Faber-Castell or Cretacolour
Sketching pencils: Derwent; putty rubber; sharpener;
Paintbrushes: a good range including: rigger, round, wide flat, chisel & fan; long & short-handled; soft and bristle.

Course Booking Terms & Conditions:
  • Full payment is required in advance by each student - group bookings are welcome to make one group payment.
  • Course Purchase payments cannot be returned or refunded unless the course is cancelled by Hands-on Art.
  • Unattended classes within the purchased course: cannot be refunded as the class will have gone ahead as planned; cannot be transferred to another course or student.
  • If Hands-on Art Adventures cancel the class you will be offered an alternative date, if you cannot attend the alternative date you will be offered a full refund for that class.
  • Each Course Purchase Certificate contains a unique ID and can only be used once by the named recipient for the course date specified on the Certificate.
  • Course Purchase Certificate must be printed off or could be displayed on your mobile device to be redeemed at your chosen course.
  • Hands-on Art will not accept liability for lost, stolen or damaged purchase certificates.
  • Course Certificates are valid for the dates specified at point of purchase.
  • Course Certificates cannot be converted into cash.
